High school

Today was a special day, as my students would say, today was a great day!! I was able to teach high school for the first time today and it was dynamic. We had a mixture of poetry expressions, Life history, cultural history, healthy thinking habits, and with my last class, the 12th grade freestyle cypher! We even had a mixture of philosophical insight during the advisory period where we listened out loud to The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale. We had a good time connecting and growing and enhancing the attitude and mindset of each of the students. By the looks in their eyes, I can see that the students were engaged and internalizing the information being shared. I wrote three poems along With recited my favorite poem, IF by Rudyard Kipling. The students enjoyed the lesson and mentioned they enjoyed having me as a substitute teacher. It makes me feel good to pour a little of myself into the lives of these students because not so long ago I was in their position.
