As the time pass by and more students become young adults, they produce offspring that will look up to them for guidance and advice. What happens when those young students, who are the new parents, never get the proper education and guidance for life skills and effectively raising children? Who takes on the responsibility for teaching the youngest generation the correct ways of life and the things that really matter in this world? Typically, they don’t get the support they need, and as I have been observing, the kids of the parents I went to school with, it is almost as if we are living in a new generation where the blind is leading the blind. When the parents are unaware of political issues, school curriculum, in-depth history, and essential life skills, the students by default will not learn these things either. The thing that troubles me the most about this scenario is that each of these issues take place frequently in our community, and the vast majority of the people living in these circumstance still do not understand the disadvantage they are placing their family in. That is why I headed this passage, “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW!” For the more financially advanced communities, they are passing along a legacy of generational wealth, and they are teaching their kids and their grandchildren what it takes to achieve and maintain these life luxuries. However, the people in the less privileged communities are not aware of this such thing call generational wealth, but instead they are only passing along traits and mindsets of living in poverty. After a while, this concept and idea begins to be ingrained in their heads, both parties, they are either born with and entitled to wealth and riches, or they are born with hardships and poverty. They are not learning there is two sides of the fence, and based on life choices and shaping your mind, you can determine where you and your family stands at the end of the day. As a young scholar who understands this, I feel as if it is my duty to reach all the young children who do not come from the privileged lifestyle, and enable them to dream big and believe that they can achieve everything they wish to earn and work for. As long as they can envision it, believe it is possible for them, and set up a plan of action to achieve and make that dream reality, there is nothing in this world to hold them back besides their own doubts, worries, and lack of effort. As you see in the pictures above, we got the entire community together with the EFTY team and had a Healthy You Day to allow students to see themselves working in great career fields at an early age. We do this to let them know, it does not matter what your skin color is, or where you were born and raised. All that matters is that you believe in something and you work towards that dream until it becomes your reality. We encourage everyone to be apart of this EFTY team and lets make a global change for every young boy and girl around the world to let them know they can be whatever it is they wish to be.
Peace and Blessings!
Sincerely,
